I thought I should let all you ex-Voxers know that you can set up your blog to allow people to comment without having to sign in to TypePad a second time.
Here's the procedure.
- First, go to your dashboard and click on "Settings" in the box that says "Manage My Blog". You'll go to the Blog Management page in the "Settings" tab.
- On the left side of the screen, you'll see a number of buttons. Click on the one that says "Comments." You'll go to the Comments Settings page where everything having to do with your blog's comments is at your fingertips.
- The first thing you'll see on the Comments Settings page is "Comment Authentication". This is a series of three radio buttons with the options, Yes (require a sign-in), Optional (allow a sign-in), and No (forbid a sign-in). Go ahead and click the option that suits you best. I recommend optional, because some people like to be able to confirm who they are to you.
After that, I heartily recommend that you run through the rest of the settings on this page and decide if any of the rest of these should be set as well. You can decide how people will let you know they are real people, rather than a bot; you can rename your navigation buttons (mine say "Backward" and "Onward"); you can even decide if you want to hold comments for moderation (extra work, but useful if you want to guarantee the kinds of comments that appear on your blog). There's a whole lot of options in the Comments Settings page
